When God Makes a Promise

When God made a promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and multiply you. (Hebrews 6:13)

When God makes a promise, we can believe that He will keep it. We should have no doubt that God will do what He says He will do. God’s promises are not always fulfilled when we want or expect them to be fulfilled. However, they are fulfilled in God’s own time because God knows the best time to act.

The promises God makes to us today are based on the same promises He made to Abraham. He made a covenant with him that he would have descendants, riches, and land. God swore by His promise, and since there is no one greater than God, He swore by Himself.

A man might break his promise to you. A woman might break her promise to you. When God makes a promise, He keeps it. All of His promises are “Yea” and “Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20-21). They will come to pass! So, who are you going to believe . . . people’s promises or those made by God?
