Peace with People

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18)

Advent calls us to extend peace outward, becoming peacemakers in our relationships. The Prince of Peace came to break down walls of hostility and to teach us the way of reconciliation. Peace with others requires humility, forgiveness, and courage. In a season of gatherings with family and friends, we are encouraged to be peacemakers in word and deed.

What It Is
•    Peace is choosing reconciliation.
•    Peace is forgiving and accepting others’ forgiveness.
•    Peace is welcoming kindness over conflict.

What It Is Not
•    Peace is not passivity or ignoring injustice.
•    Peace is not limited to only the Christmas holiday when people and greeting cards say, “Peace on earth and goodwill toward men.”

Call for Action
Seek reconciliation today. Offer forgiveness or a kind word where there has been tension. Think of one relationship where tension lingers. Pray for that person by name, asking God to soften your heart. If possible, reach out with a kind word, a note, or a gesture of reconciliation. Even a small act can open the door to peace.

“May You” Blessings
May you be a vessel of peace, bringing healing to relationships. May you be a bridge where division has built walls. May forgiveness flow through you like living water. May your words carry gentleness, your actions reflect kindness, and your presence bring harmony to those around you.

Pray This Prayer
Lord, help me love others as You love me. Make me an instrument of Your peace, so that others may see Your love through me. Amen.
