Joy in the Birth of Jesus
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.” (Matthew 2:10)
Advent leads us to the manger, where joy was announced to the world. The wise men’s joy was a response to God’s guiding light. Advent joy is the celebration of God’s promises fulfilled. It is the exceeding gladness of seeing His plan unfold.
What It Is
• Joy is the response to God’s guidance.
• The birth of Jesus is good news that brings lasting joy.
• Joy is the celebration of Emmanuel—God with us.
• Joy is the celebration of Jesus’ arrival.
What It Is Not
• Joy is not hesitation when God reveals His plan.
• It is not indifference to His promises.
• Joy is not silence in the face of good news.
• Joy is not based on what is happening around you.
Call to Action
Rejoice exceedingly today in the promises of God. Be joyful because joy is the song of heaven shared with the earth. Tell others about the good news of Jesus’ birth.
May You Blessings
• May your eyes see the guiding light of Jesus.
• May your heart rejoice in His promises.
• May joy lead you into worship.
Prayer
Lord, let me rejoice exceedingly in Your promises and celebrate Jesus’ arrival with great joy. Amen.
